Re-inspection or a new survey? How to tell which you need

Not every asbestos visit is the same. Booking the right one first saves time and money.

A re-inspection is right when

You have a management survey or register, whoever wrote it.
You want each known or presumed item checked against last time.
No building work is planned in the areas concerned.

You need a management survey when

There has never been a survey, or the old one cannot be found.
Large areas are marked “not inspected”.
It is unclear what was found where.

You need a refurbishment and demolition survey when

Work is planned on the fabric of the building. That survey is fully intrusive and covers the area being worked on (HSE guidance HSG264).
